 The Texas Tech Relationship Education Initiative is a program under the direction of Dr. Jason Whiting. The mission of our program is to help people develop stronger relationship skills. We have also provided workshops for couples, who are planning on marrying, to evaluate and prepare for their marriage by participating in solid, researched-based education. We are also dedicated to assist in the strengthening of current marital relationships based on the same resources. Unfortunately, state funding was drastically cut, and we are no longer able to offer the workshops at this time. You will be able to find contact information for possible providers there. Social science research reveals that a healthy marriage relationship is one key to a happy and fulfilling life. Furthermore, studies have shown that married couples are happier, healthier, wealthier, less likely to experience domestic violence, and enjoy better sex lives than singles or cohabiting couples. Their children do better in school, have better emotional and physical health, and are less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol and other risky behaviors. We hope we will be offering workshops again at a later point in time. |
